EAGLE VoIP Telephony Applications
More Ports of Power over Ethernet are used for powering Voice
over IP Phone sets than for any other PoE application. LAN
Power Midspan PoE Chassis and Modules are the perfect solution
for necessary phone power when upgrading to a Networked VoIP
Phone System. The Diagram below shows the connectivity of
the necessary components.

Unlike traditional phones, VoIP phone sets don't take line
power from the Central Office. They need local power. It is
important to design for Phone System operation should a temporary
loss of building power occur. A LAN Power Midspan, backed
up with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), provides a
secure, centralized power source at a fraction of the cost
of competing solutions. The solution works with all existing
Structured Cabling Systems Category 5 and above. It works
with all Ethernet, Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet Switches
whether Workgroup (Fixed Ports) or Concentrator (Removable
Blades). Complete Network investment protection along with
secure, centralized power is provided by the LAN Power PoE
Midspans.
Benefits for IP Phone Networks
- Save big $$ by not replacing current Switches or Cable
Plant
- Deployable in 8, 16 or 24 Port increments and fits into
a 19" Rack
- Modules may be Hot-swap added later or replaced if damaged
- Provides cost effective power back-up along with UPS system
- Current support for Gigabit Ethernet throughput speeds,
required by Video Screen VoIP Phones
- 18 watts available on all Ports to power all brands of
VoIP Phones
